Are all our Scout Groups open to Girls as well as Boys?
Since 2007 all Scout Sections in all Groups have been open to both Girls and Boys. We continue to see an increasing take up of Girls into all our sections in all Groups.
How many Scout Groups are there in Ware & district?
We have 8 Scout Groups in the District. They range from Buntingford in the north down through Braughing (that also meets in Standon) into Thundridge which is part of 2nd Ware. We also have 3rd Ware and 5th Ware based in Ware town then onto Gt Amwell and Hunsdon and finally Stanstead Abbotts and St Margaret's
How do I sign my child up with one of the Groups?
Currently we don't run a District waiting list. Each group runs its own waiting list. The weblinks and contact details for Groups are listed on this site.
How are Local Groups funded?
Each Group has its ongoing costs in terms of rental, electric etc. Insurance is covered by the Scout movement and each young persons fees go towards both of those expenses. Some groups charge termly, some monthly. Each Group as an Executive committee that oversees the business side of the Group. They will often fund raise to help reduce the YPs fees. No leaders at Group or District level are paid any salary.
