Self Service, Appointments Approval Committee (AAC), Appointment Page
Thank you for agreeing to be part of the Ware & District Scouting team delivering Skills for Life to our Young People.
All Scouting roles require adults to hold a valid DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service ) check, supply references and come to an appointments approval meeting.
At this meeting the appointments team will welcome you and ensure the scout role you have agreed to take on is appropriate to your abilities. It's also your opportunity to ask any questions related to scouting or your new role in our District.
Most scout roles require leaders to do Safety and SafeGuarding training. This ensures you, as a leader, and our young people are safe.
Hertfordshire Scouts run periodic local group sessions that we'd also encourage you to attend. These cover the content more fully and are a great opportunity to meet other leaders in scouting from different groups and districts and share ideas and experiences.
These courses are free to Leaders and we'd encourage you look at whats available and book them via the website.
In the meantime it's important you have some initial basic training and it would be helpful if you can visit these links and complete these E-Learning modules as soon as convenient.
Save screen shots of the certificates at the end of each session and send them to your Training Advisor or Group Scout Leader or bring them to your Appointments meeting.
Don't worry if this seem too complicated we can help you when we see you for your meeting.
Scouting regulations require all new leaders complete their basic mandatory training and have their appointments approval committee meeting within 5 months of starting. The calendar below shows the dates within that period where we are holding Appointments Approval Committee meetings. For each date there are a number of timed slots you can select from. Please chose a date as soon as you can manage and the timed slot that suits you best. If you aren't able to find a date and slot that works then please contact our Appointments Secretary as soon as you can so we can ensure we meet with you in that time frame.
And once again thank you for agreeing to join us and our young people on the Scouting Journey.
If you need to know more please contact our District Commissioner
